Ooh, my bad!

No posts since mid-May? What's wrong with me?! Actually, you just need to follow my on Facebook, Twitter or my political blog.

So - let me re-cap, again.

I'll start with the biggest news. Our first grandbaby was born on Wednesday morning, June 3rd. It turns out that my great-grandmother was born at that day and 5 generations, the circle continues....Kimberly Anne was born after a 7-hour labor, with 30 minutes of pushing, to our daughter, Neener. I was lucky enough to be the midwife - very cool. From Neener's perspective, it was the hardest freaking thing she has ever done. :-) From a midwife's perspective, it was a smooth, "easy" birth, with nary a hiccup and from grandma's perspective, it was very fun to see that new grandbaby and I am just so proud of my daughter for claiming her birthing power - totally natural homebirth - woot! So - I am Grandma, my mother is a great-grandma but won't admit it and my grandmothers are both great-great grandmas now....We should do a picture...

On to other news - there is hardly anything different. My life revolves around politics, LOL. The campaign I am managing is over on Saturday. "My guy" is running against an incumbent, but from all indications is doing very well. It all comes down to a 3-minute speech on Saturday morning. Do you know how short 3 minutes is? Geez! We have worked hard and will continue to work hard this week and then it's up to the delegates going to the state convention. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.... (the pic is "my guy", btw - and a great guy he is....)

We have gotten our garden in - 200 tomato plants, 100 pepper plants (1/2 bells, 1/2 hot), various squash and melons, corn, potatoes and a few other things. The weather has been cool, which doesn't break my heart at all.

School ended for most of the kids the Friday before Memorial Day. I joked with a neighbor that I was looking forward to the landscape crew starting - the kids!

We had some excitement about Mikey's mission - Elder Russell M Nelson and his wife, the mission president and his wife and the area president and his wife were all attacked in the home of Mikey's mission president by 4 armed assailants. The mission president's wife got a broken elbow, Elder Nelson was kicked in the face and chest, I understand, and there were scrapes and bruises, but it could have been a lot worse. The Nelson's did the mission conference as scheduled and the missionaries were totally pumped up.

More random tidbits - I met Josh Romney last night - son of Mitt Romney - nice guy. I also met Kirk Jowers, head of the Hinckley Institute of Politics. He told me he had heard about me - and my blog - several times from Jason C and others...Jason (aka Congressman Chaffetz) also plugged my blog two different times last night at a gathering at his home. I have a YouTube copy of one of them that I'll have up on the other blog.
Three of the girls went to girls camp this week - we missed them terribly! One came screaming into camp saying she had seen a bear, so one of the guys went to investigate. It was a moose. She sure had everyone riled up, though, LOL.

Well, there you have it - the update from Starfish Acres. (Well, Acre....)
