1. Garden work: Not really, unless you count putting garden catalogs in a stack.
2. Preserve something: Hmm. Preserved family memories by driving 2200 miles in less than a week so my pre-missionary son could visit with his grandparents (all 4) before he left for 2 years.
3. Work on food storage: Purchased fresh food at a Missouri food auction. Will can the sweet potatoes I got for $2/bushel.
4. Other preparedness tasks: Prepared a missionary to go live in a third-world country for two years. I know (kind of) what that means . . . ack! DH built shelves for our storage room, which will make it much easier and much nicer to get to our “stuff”.
5. Try a new recipe or a new variation: I actually got the week off from cooking! Amazing . . .
6. Financial preparedness: Ummmm. Sure would like to be all the way out of debt.
7. Work on local food systems: Missouri's local food systems! Loved, loved, loved going to the food auction run by Amish and Mennonite farmers.
8. Learn something new: I learned I could probably feed my family on $500 a month if we moved to Missouri and shopped at the food auction religiously. I also learned more info about the status of midwives in Missouri. I also found some lovely land!
9. Serve someone: My son. My parents and sil, when I donated produce to them. :)
