My goings-on

I am fully immersed in politics right now - and I love it! Seriously up to my eyeballs in it. In fact, right now as I type, I'm sitting on the 3rd floor of the Capitol building saying Hi to people who walk by that need to see me, LOL. (OK, I'm home now . . . )

So - our weekend was like this: Friday evening instead of going out for a date, we had some political friends come over - M and his family. I've known M since I first got on the Hill in what, 2002? He was a legislator then. I met his wife for the first time last week. They are very nice. They came over and we talked politics and religion for 2 or 3 hours. That was fun. :) He will likely run for state vice-chair this year. I'll help him and of course hope he wins.

Saturday morning, I went to a Chamber of Commerce meeting with legislators. They hold them every Saturday morning during the session, at 7:30 am. I sat with D, a friend I met campaigning this summer and a guy thinking of running for Senate. Anyway, he sat there asking my political opinion! I also saw some other legislators and asked their opinion of me running for vice-chair of the county Republican party. One was non-committal, as always, and another was very enthusiastic. :) That was nice. In fact, I started testing the waters last week. Reception has been very positive. :) So - I'm gonna do it. Oooh, nervous!

At home, we've had some illness - Kadee has been throwing up all day. Bummer. A has had a headache and has been really moody and cranky for several days. I think it's because of her boyfriend but she says she is crying because her head hurts. Right. She came home from her last date/sleepover with him with a bruise on her face. First she told us a story that he "bumped" her with his elbow. Then she admitted it was a hickey and when she said to him that it was not cool, he said his only regret was that he didn't make it darker. Great guy, that guy. I can only hope she'll place the baby for adoption when he/she is born in June.

Now that we have the storage room shelves done, we are getting the Christmas stuff put away. It's not anywhere near my "record" of . . . drumroll please . . . July. (That was in our Orem house.)

Let's see - I've been thinking about the scriptures about having eyes to see (or not see, as the scripture goes). It struck me that it's not just "seeing" that the church is true, but it's "seeing", for example, that not all is well in Zion. It's seeing that one cannot have a business life separate from one's church life. Some are blind and can not see and think that anything goes in business and they'll be a good Mormon on Sunday, but it's not that way.

Well, that's my little bit of insight. :)

Have a great day today.
