Here's the update: I had to wait until after Jan 6 and my new Congressman was sworn in. As soon as he was, his office started working on our case. The first thing they did was read the 50+ pages of documentation I had given to him back in November. ("So glad you got elected - here's my issue", hand-delivered to his home and given to his wife).
Then, last week his office person assigned to our case had me come talk to her for an hour. She then called immigration (this was Friday) and asked to speak to the guy over our case. He wasn't available. She called again today and spoke to his supervisor who told my friend that Officer S was still working on our case and in fact had just requested additional information from the US Embassy overseas - on Friday. Would that have been before or after the congressional phone call? What he's asking is for the US Embassy to "investigate" whether we still have valid adoptions, which means to me he's telling them to hurry and get them overturned. We'll see . . .
The "nice lady" said they had just had some negative information about us come from the Embassy overseas, so she just didn't know if we even had valid adoptions anymore. Whatever. Interesting that in all their complaints to and about us, they never mentioned negative information from overseas, although of course we knew the Embassy was in cahoots with them from the beginning. The Congressman's office person asked if they could overturn the adoptions and I said "Of course". All they need to do is pay a judge to say so.
Supposedly we will hear in 2 weeks. . . . Keep us in your prayers. If they do overturn the adoptions, we're done. Although maybe I'll adopt from another country. . . . .

Excuses of convenience, that's for sure. How disappointing.... but maybe there's room for plenty of hope too. At least his office is getting them to answer. *sigh*
I wish you the best with this!!!
